Flim Flam Free Football Flattens Pitt

Overheard at a football practice for an unnamed pro team, a coach talking to a player that was struggling. “Son, this is pro football, we don’t pay you to play. We pay you to win.” OK, I did not overhear it, I made it up, but it works.

If this was a basketball game then the Pitt team would not have gotten a single rebound, free throw, heck, they may never have completed an inbounds pass. The Rattlers started the game by kicking the Power in the gearbox and essentially scoring on Pitts first two offensive series. Sure, the Power did get some points, officially. Let's face it, Kevin Guy and his Virgil Gray, Nick Davila, Odie Armstrong, Rod Windsor and Jason Geathers led team are just plain mean and number one and 15-2 and Division Champs and MEAN.

NO. I did not forget the Legion of Doom that slays all enemies so Odie can roll and Nick can fly. NO, I did not forget the Mansters that rip off the heads of the Rattler foes and then spit down their throats.

If their wives wandered on the field during a play, the Rattler players and coaches would say, ooops, “sorry hon, but you should not have been out here.”  Really? Yep. The Rattlers are still P**** about TWO points, one in each game they lost. They want those points back; they want everyone they play to think about a new career off the field after each game. This reminds me of an unsubstantiated story about Genghis Khan.  On one of his many campaigns one of his field generals came back to report that he lost his whole unit, what did Khan want him to do?

Khan replied by pulling his sword, beheading the general, looked at his men and said. NEXT! It was a loooong time before anyone brought back such a report, oh; they had those kinds of defeats in battles. They just did not come back and tell GK.

Want to win a world Championship in Arena football? Get a sword like Kevin Guys. His is a pen, and a contract. But NEXT is only a phone call away for every player on the team. Want to watch what a great team looks like? Be there for the playoffs. The Rattler players have a much needed bye this week. After being disrespected in the polls for most of the season by having the Sharks, a team AZ beat, ranked above them in the polls for the last 8 weeks, the Snakes are now number one. Any Questions???

Moral of this story? If you want to play for the Rattlers and you make a mistake, don’t even think about saying “my bad”. You had better get out there and get it back twice before you exit the field from the NW corner of the Snake Pit…..

To the Dallas Vigilantes, play hard, prepare well, and get really confident.  Buy insurance… oh, and order your Arena Bowl tickets now, this way you will have a seat at the game.
